eBay are running a promotion for new private sellers who have never sold on the site before. Until the 16th of September, selected sellers (who have been invited by email) can .
There are all the normal exclusions applicable to recent free listing promotions – no pro-listing tools, no pro-sellers and a few excluded categories such as Motors (although parts and accessories are eligible).
It’s a pretty good promotion to encourage buyers to try their hand at selling, all fees are free, including the Insertion Fee, Final Value Fee, and optional upgrade features fees such as Reserve Price, Gallery Plus, Subtitle, Additional Pictures, Picture Packs etc.
At the point of listing, the Insertion Fee, Final Value Fee, and fees for Additional Pictures, Picture Packs, the Buy It Now option for Auction-style listings, and Reserve Price are not charged. Due to technical issues, all other fees will be initially charged but credited back to the seller’s account on the next billing cycle after the promotion period ends.
Of course it’s only for one item, so hopefully eligible sellers will list something with a reasonably high expect sale price to get full benefit. It’s long been known that buyers who occasionally sell tend to buy much more in the future compared to buyers that have never sold so this is a great promotion to get them engaged on eBay and hopefully immediately re-spending any money that they make!
