Chris Griffin began selling Superdry seconds on eBay. He’s been so successful that SuperGroup, the umbrella company of the Superdry and Cult fashion brands, had given him half a million in shares to bring his operation inhouse in liew of a notice period.
The £500,000 share deal is said by Julian Dunkerton, Supergroup’s CEO, only going to take a couple of months to recoup as aff_link("stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Superdry-Store","Chris Griffin's 888 Clothing business","","UK"); ?> is bought inhouse. Chris Griffin will become head of ecommerce at Superdry.
According to The Telegraph, Supergroup aim to grow their online business to 20% of their turnover. Chris Griffin has apparently already grown their online revenues by 0.4% just by making a few casual suggestions.
The Telegraph article suggests he only began selling Superdry Seconds last September, but Chris Griffin opened his eBay account in 2006 and traded as 888 clothing in 2009 before rebranding as aff_link("stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Superdry-Store","Superdrystore","","UK"); ?> in December 2009. Regardless it’s a fantastic achievement and whilst he can’t cash in his shares immediately a £1/2 million payday doesn’t come around too often. Chris Griffin has had to work for it too, his eBay account has over half a million feedback… that works out quite nicely at £1 per positive feedback, how much is your eBay business worth on that basis?

Great achievement, however I didn’t think you could sell ebay stores?
You can transfer ownership of an ebay user id and sell an ebay business as long as you have approached ebay and they give you consent.
£1 per feedback?
A cheque for £68,644 would be very nice.
Any offers?
I thought I recognised this news — it’s a little out of date having happened 3 years ago, Chris! The Telegraph article is dated 22nd June 2010.
I did some analysis of the price at the time suggesting that SuperGroup got themselves a bargain.
