Free auction listings on eBay UK 15th and 16th February

No primary category set

This weekend private sellers can list up to 100 items free using the auction format.

Full terms here. But in short, the blurb says: “Create up to 100 listing(s) with a starting price of £1 or more in an eligible category during the promotion period using the auction-style format and you won’t pay an insertion fee for each listing during the promotion period.

Feature fees and final value fees will still apply. The number of listings eligible under this promotion may be less where seller restrictions apply.”

It looks like eBay have knocked together a new page hoping to attract new sellers with an FAQs and talking heads that leads straight to the simplified selling form. It also encourages people to download the mobile app. Check out the page here.

  1. By invitation only. Which means that eBay do not need to publicise the offer in the Announcements area.

For all we know every day could be a FLD!

  2. It sounds like they’re testing stuff.

But please do still alert TameBay if you notice anything promo wise. And we will publish it as soon as we can.

  3. so I contacted another person who told me something completely different – they said it was because my account was showing up as US registered…

My acct has always been the same with UK details etc.. He kept on telling me I must have registered with the US site by mistake – or my acct.. had been transferred to the US site for some reason..

Well my details have always been the same – I think the truth is that I registered in 1999 – way before there were any “local” ebay sites such as eBay UK.. So by default I was registered on the US Site..

Anyway he didn’t seem to understand this.. He seemed to think there had always been separate sites.. I went through things to change my account to be UK regd. Then he told me now I would qualify for UK promotions.. and this was the reason why I had never been able to use UK promotions in the past..

I then pointed out that up until Jan 1st this year I had been regularly using all the UK promos for two years.. This seemed to confuse him.. He kept repeating that the reason I had never been able to use UK promotions in the past was because I was registered in the US..

So – I am still in the dark – both op’s told me my acct. was fine – my details definitely hadn’t changed since I joined.. So I can’t see any reason why I would be suddenly excluded from offers beginning this year..

So could it just be like the first lady said – they are only sending offers out now to people that dont sell very often.. And the UK site has decided not to have any general offers for everyone so far this year.. Maybe..

  4. Just checked ebay and again it is winking at me that this weekend, the 22/23rd February, is a Free Listing Weekend. Before coming on Tamebay I tried to list an item and it went through at Nil Listing Fees so I think that it is safe to assume that I am correct in this.

It is only a week since the last Free Listing Weekend so the items that you listed last weekend which have not sold have not gone through the sausage machine. So unless you have 100 items in Unsold you will need to search up and list some new items.
