Amazon India will be holding a promotional event for four days commencing on the 9th August. It’s billed as the Freedom Sale. There are apparently going to be 20,000 deals on offer during the event including reductions on smartphones, consumer electronics, fashion, white goods and groceries.
Obviously, this follows on from the hugely successful Amazon Prime Day not so very many weeks ago that saw deep discounts for Prime users on thousands of products. The Amazon India event is slightly different but speaks to Amazon’s desire to be the every day outlet for bargain goods.
The promo will start at midnight on August 9th and go on till 11:59PM on August 12th and there will be fresh flash deals revealed during the course of the day including products from brands like Samsung, Huawei, Dyson, Bosch, OnePlus, Vivo and JBL.

The real value of these promotional events from Amazon certainly lies predominantly with the media coverage and buzz they create. The excitement gives a significant halo effect to the marketplace in general, and the broader ecocmmerce environment. And to a great extent this comes at little or no expense to Amazon: the discounts are essentially funded by merchants or Amazon’s retail wing.
Amazon continues to focus of India and its competitive ecommerce environment. There’s no doubt that this will give a boost to sales on Amazon in India. In particular, the smartphone deals are likely to be very successful.
