eBay.com have introduced a new eBay Motors app available now on both Android and iOS in the US.
The new eBay Motors native app has an elegant and easy-to-use interface which is built on cutting-edge technology, including machine learning. In the Big Data era we currently live in, eBay Motors is using technology to leverage massive amounts of information and providing a mobile foundation to simplify and improve the online retail experience.
This includes things like automatically sorting seller’s images into three buckets to present them to the consumer – Exterior, Interior and Engine bay. This means it doesn’t matter what order images are uploaded, the buyer will see them segregated in a way that makes sense.
The car seller takes photos of their car on a phone, uploads the photos to their listing, and eBay automatically organizes the photos into the three groupings. This has a significant impact on the perception of the listing. During testing, users gave eBay comments like “This listing must have been put together by a mechanic” due to the intelligent image categorization.
Another feature is the ability to list with just the vehicle License Plate. When selling a vehicle, the user will be prompted by the app to take a photo of the license plate, which the app will use to automatically populate key details such as make and model, year and VIN.
In just a few steps, and in less than 5 minutes, a seller can create and populate a listing, including uploading images and a video of the vehicle to entice the right buyer. Even the location is taken from the Smartphone location meaning a ZIP code doesn’t have to be entered manually to display the vehicle location.
For buyers, the new experience offers the ability to browse listings by vehicle type and with up to 100 images per car brings
eBay Motors up to the standard of competing car sales venues.
