Barclaycard partners with BigCommerce to grow ecommerce offering

Barclaycard have announced a new partnership with ecommerce platform BigCommerce to introduce an integrated, cutting-edge payment solution for online retailers across the UK and Europe.

BigCommerce, an ecommerce platform supporting 60,000 growing, mid-size and established online sellers across the globe has partnered with Barclaycard, who are responsible for 40 per cent of card transactions in the UK. This means merchants will now be able to take payments through a well-known trusted, secure and compliant expert while also delivering frictionless customer transactions.

The integration of barclaycards infrastructure into the Bigcommerce platform promises to have merchants payment systems up and running in days rather than weeks or months, giving sellers peace of mind that their consumers are getting seamless and reliable payment options that work for both them and their customers.

“Customer experience is critical for all online retailers, and that’s why so many sellers turn to BigCommerce. Our partnership will ensure that merchants can deliver the seamless shopping and payments experience their customers demand, safe in the knowledge they can receive support from BigCommerce and Barclaycard every step of the way. We’re thrilled to be bringing a more streamlined service to so many ecommerce businesses, helping them to continue to grow.”
– Nicole Olbe, Managing Director of Partnerships, Barclaycard

Both companies are looking at ways to further this partnership through the integration of fraud detection and security services, and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) to keep on top of industry-wide regulation. BigCommerce merchants will have more time to focus on growing their business rather than their infustructure.

“Trust, particularly during the payment process, is an integral part of the relationship between merchant and consumer. Our job as an ecommerce platform is to not only provide merchants the tools necessary to build and scale a successful business, but to do so in a way that further cements that critical brand trust. By partnering with Barclaycard, one of the most reputable payments companies in the world, BigCommerce is helping to ensure a more secure online transaction, giving merchants and their consumers an added level of confidence in the ecommerce process.”
– Mark Adams, General Director, BigCommerce Europe

Intergrating Barclaycards payment infrastructure is just another move by BigCommerce to make ecommerce straightforward for merchants. Late last year they also announced the open beta release of the new BigCommerce GraphQL Storefront API, purpose-built for creating faster, personalized customer shopping experiences that differentiates brands from competitors.
