B&Q marketplace now 24% of online sales

When DIY retailer B&Q launched an online marketplace to expand on their existing range in 2022, they said that within six months, 100,000 more home improvement products from third-party sellers would be available on B&Q’s existing website diy.com, where the marketplace has been seamlessly integrated.

The new range was to sit alongside the 40,000 products currently sold by B&Q, with the retailer aiming to offer unparalleled choice with millions of products to be made available through the marketplace.

Now B&Q have revealed the immense success that their marketplace has seen. They have given customers significantly more choice with over 340,000 products on the platform – 8x more than when the marketplace launched. This represents a growth from 5% to 24% in the online sales contribution.

B&Q have created partnerships with 400 third party sellers, who now offer their products to millions of weekly visitors to DIY.com – B&Q’s website.

Categories on the marketplace have rapidly expanded to eighteen, including Lighting, Power Tools, Wallpaper, Small Domestic Appliances, Kitchen Sinks & Taps, Cookware & Tableware, Decorative, Bathroom, Furniture, Storage, Wall & Floor Coverings, Christmas, Garden Structures & Leisure, Paint, Painting Tools & Cleaning, Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Greens, and Electrical.

Plus, B&Q offer consumers easy returns across the UK to any of over 300 B&Q Stores.

This is a massive success story, not just for B&Q but also for the hundreds of retailers now selling through their platform. It’s a transformative success in the home improvement sector for the UK and, if you’re not already one of B&Q’s partner sellers it’s time to sign up to the marketplace in time for the busiest time of year for the construction and DIY sector.

B&Q, a part of Kingfisher plc, an international home improvement company with 1,100 stores in 10 countries across Europe, are the UK’s leading home improvement and garden living retailer, helping customers have smarter homes since 1969. Now you can be part of their business, where 20 million people shop each year, through their marketplace.

The B&Q marketplace is powered by Mirakl, so you can add the platform to your portfolio of selling venues through Mirakl Connect.
