New Amazon Vouchers pricing requirement

New Amazon Vouchers pricing requirement

From the 18th of March, 2024, Amazon vouchers will be subject to new pricing requirements. Essentially you’ll need to have established a sales history created by as few as a single unit being sold to establish a base price.

Amazon vouchers come in the form of a price discount merchandised on the product detail page and on the Amazon vouchers page. Customers simply click on a voucher and it will be added to their basket.

Vouchers are still required to have a discount percentage between the minimum (5% off) and maximum (50% off). The big change is that the majority of products will also be required to have a sales history before they are eligible to run and a promotion price lower than either the Was Price or the recent lowest price.

If a product’s price or discount doesn’t meet these new requirements, it won’t be eligible for a voucher until all requirements have been met. If you receive a voucher error message, you can take the following actions:

  • Price history issue: To make this product eligible, create sales history by selling just one unit of the product to build the Was Price.
  • Increase discount: Make sure your promotion price is lower than the Was Price or the recent lowest price to make this product eligible.
  • Minimum/maximum discount issue: Update your sale price discount percentage to be between the minimum (5% off) and maximum (50% off) to make this product eligible.

So how do you get a product sold to establish the Was Price? It would be totally irresponsible of us to suggest getting an employee or family friend to simply make a purchase and quietly reimburse them afterwards. I’m sure some may think this a good strategy to quickly get a sale as opposed to waiting for a genuine buyer to come along, but it obviously wouldn’t be playing by the intention of the rules. Plus, if you have hundreds of SKUs you want to add vouchers for you’d need hundreds of friends to make purchases. Getting caught would probably have consequences of some sort.
