1 year on: Shoply, the social shopping marketplace

No primary category set

I’ve been speaking to Liad of Shoply today, we’ve spoken a number of times over the last year and it’s great to see the Shoply site enjoying massive growth. I remember when Shoply first launched and even back then they were listening to their users and fast adapting to feedback. Shoply has changed immensely since those early days and is worth revisiting if you haven’t checked the site out recently.

Shoply is still relatively small at the moment compared to eBay or Amazon, but read on to find out why you should consider listing on Shoply and how to get a Shoply shop for free!

Shoply launched in early 2011 as a commerce platform and shopping marketplace with a focus on small brands and local businesses. Shoply is now 10,000 retailers strong and generating thousands of monthly transactions for them. They recently closed a funding round from investors in the UK & US.

Opening a shop and selling on Shoply is completely free. There are no setup or listing fees whatsoever. Sellers can choose between paying 10% commission on sales or a flat rate fee of $29.99 per month. They provide sellers all they need to open an manage a profitable online shop, including marketing tools to promote their products on social media and an ongoing and growing sales channel in the form of their shopping marketplace.

For buyers, Shoply provides a curated social shopping experience where they can discover and buy products from thousands of independent sellers in one place safely and efficiently. By setting up a taste profile they provide buyers with suggested lists of products they will like, shops they should be following and other members who have similar tastes.

Ecommerce is undergoing fundamental structural shifts. Small brands and local businesses have a hard enough time without having to worry about keeping on the cusp of these developments. Shoply exists so that they don’t have to.

Shoply are all about democratising ecommerce and empowering small brands and local businesses.
