Amazon product attributes positioning

No primary category set

It would appear that Amazon are experimenting with product attributes, which enable buyers to narrow down their searches.

Using tick box selection options similar to those buyers are accustomed to seeing in the eBay search left navigation bar, Amazon product attributes have appeared across the top of the search results pages.

I’ve not been able to find the search selection options on Amazon myself, so thanks to Tamebay reader Jonny from WorldStores for the screenshot. As it’s showing the old blue and orange page design it would appear that Amazon are still playing with design and search options, so whether you’ll see it will depend if Amazon have included you in their test selection. I’m seeing the product attributes on the new Amazon design in the left hand nav bar beneath the Amazon category selection

It makes sense to make it easy for buyers to narrow down their choices, and product attributes certainly do this. Whether Amazon will keep them in the side bar on the new design, or if they’ll appear permanently at the top of search results, is something we’ll have to wait to see. It’s also possible that the screen shot is simply broken while Amazon migrate from their old site design to the new one, and will be back in the left navigation bar when users start seeing the new design.
