Amazon has announced that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will reunite to make a new car show available exclusively to Amazon Prime members.
The Top Gear team have committed to three seasons as part of deal. The first season will go into production soon and is scheduled to premiere for Prime members in 2016.
On working with Amazon, Jeremy Clarkson said: “I feel like I’ve climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship.”
Richard Hammond added: “Amazon? Oh yes. I have already been there. I got bitten by a bullet ant.”
James May said: “We have become part of the new age of smart TV. Ironic, isn’t it?”
“Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to make that happen,” said Jay Marine, Vice President of Amazon Prime Video EU. “Millions of Prime members are already enjoying our ground-breaking original shows. We can’t wait to see what Jeremy, Richard, James and the team will create in what is sure to be one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.”
At last Chris, and maybe you, has a reason to sign up for Amazon Prime?

AZ just dont miss a trick, do they!
Genius move by Amazon. With their recent addition of Amazon Music to the Prime package, its becoming even more enticing. I think Top Gear will be a real game changer for Prime.
Pretty massive – stuff like this is what will make them able to compete with netflix.
Great move by Amz. But im getting bored of these 3, after so many years styles getting old. May Rattling on and clarkson saying ‘power’ in every episode of top gear. With hammond giving his car some random name. Like ‘Little pixxie’
Then the bit where they review a car most of us may never even see or hear in our lifetime let alone drive.
Then the star in the car, which i just skip.
Hopefully new production team can refresh the 3 a bit.
Smart arse is the message we get
Brilliant news. Means I never have to accidentally flick over to these three pr1cks again. They can rot on Amazon!
maybe the sections on the show “star in car” etc, may not be part of these 3, as top gear IS coming back in brand, by chris evans, perhaps its only able to appear in the TG brand.
as soon as JC was sacked, the TG branding was lost from their live shows for example.
i think the chris evans piloted show could also be good, i would pick Jodie kidd or suzi perry to join him (and thats not based on sex, they are well known car nuts, kidd even being one of the fastest stars). and my third presenter would have to be Jay Kay from jamiriquai, again another car nut
