Today, as part of Pentagon’s marketplace focus series, we are introducing French fashion and footwear marketplace Spartoo.

About Spartoo

Spartoo is a French ecommerce company that specialises in shoes and clothing.

Founded in 2006, Spartoo started as a footwear e-tailer, and expanded into the fashion category in 2013. The company now offers more than 70,000 styles and over 1,000 brands of shoes and clothes, to more than 20 countries across Europe.

To further boost its position, in the European fashion online market, Spartoo launched its own online marketplace in 2014, which currently operates in 15 countries and hosts over 350 merchants.

The European Ecommerce Opportunity

With over 564 million internet users and more than 331 million online shoppers, Europe is one of the largest and most established ecommerce markets worldwide, valued at €423.8 billion.

Although Western European markets still dominate, the rise of internet and mobile penetration in the Eastern and Southern parts of the continent are expected to boost revenue from ecommerce sales across the region. Online shopping in Eastern Europe alone is expected to increase by more than 24% annually, and the European ecommerce sector is set to grow by an average of 18.4% by the end of the year.

Mobile is playing an increasingly important role in the European ecommerce landscape, and online shoppers on the continent are expected to spend about €45 billion via mobile devices by the end of the 2015; an increase of 88.7% on the year before.

What does Spartoo’s offering include?

With nine years of experience in the ecommerce fashion vertical and with its strong customer-focused policies, Spartoo expects over €50 million of turnover from its marketplace activity alone by the end of 2015.

Providing its partners with greater flexibility, when it comes to technical integration, and allowing them to sell into all countries they are present, through a one-click solution, Spartoo enables local and foreign businesses to reach Europe’s vast consumer fashion market, quickly and securely.
