For many sellers on marketplaces and websites product bundles are an essential tool for differentiating their offerings and increasing average order sizes. You may sell cameras, but if you can sell a bundle including a lens, case and tripod then you still only have to ship one box but your order size has increased, there’s minimal additional picking and packing costs and your business just got a bit more profitable.
With that in mind ChannelGrabber are rolling out a feature they are calling ‘Linked Products’ which has already been in beta test by real ChannelGrabber clients (in other words, they know it works!).
If have a product which is made up as a bundle or kit from multiple other products or you sell different quantities of the same product as “multi-packs” then the Linked Products feature allows you to select the main bundle product and link it to the stock levels of the component products. Once linked, when the bundle sells, the stock of the component products is reduced, and when one of the component products sells, the stock of the bundle is reduced.
This is designed to stop you overselling and running out of a single component needed to complete a bundle when it’s sold. Even if you don’t use ChannelGrabber it makes sense to ensure you have enough stock to fulfil potential orders for bundles and for individual components from available stock – it’s just a lot harder to do without multichannel management software and a pain to update listings across multiple sites manually every time you get a sale.
