As you know, Tamebay’s mission is to write about ‘selling on marketplaces’ and most of the time than means eBay and Amazon. But we do like to write about as many other ecommerce marketplaces as we possibly can and we know that is popular with you, Tamebay’s dear readers.
As marketplace merchants, many of you are keen to branch out and sell on other outlets. And, as experienced online retailers know, it pays to be ‘platform agnostic’. If you can make it work out profitably, the mechanics of selling and fulfilling sales are pretty much identical across all marketplace websites. Therefore you may as well get your goods in front of as many eyeballs as possible by embracing any platform that is practical.
And, at the moment, we think the need to diversify, and explore new marketplaces, is particularly keen for two reasons. Firstly, Brexit could be disruptive so new sales arenas could be real lifesavers. Secondly, there is a potential risk that Amazon could become saturated and too competitive for many merchants.
Which marketplaces should we be writing about?
We’re not afraid to ask for help from the experts: that means you. The marketplaces landscape is complex and ever-changing and we are asking for your guidance about which marketplaces we should be writing about for the first time, or revisiting for more information or an update, in the next few months. Especially over the course of September, we will be renewing our focus and writing more. Leave a comment or drop us a note.
