Yesterday at the eBay UK Retail Briefing in Manchester, as well as the 2019 eBay for Business awards being announced, eBay also revealed that more eBay Millionaires were created in the past year then at any time in the last decade. Around 1,300 new businesses are trading more than a million pound turnovers on eBay now and the number of eBay millionaires created in the past decade has now topped over 8,500.
One retailer in the eBay Millionaires club is Swindon based Lingerie Outlet Store and founder Clare Haines was spotted by the BBC who invited her into their Bristol studio to talk about eBay on the lunch time news.
Clare started her business as a single mum with a small child working from the kitchen table but today the business has dozens of employees and turns over in the region of £7 million. Clare says the great thing about marketplaces for a new business is that they teach you great customer service. Clare is also passionate about women in business.
Marketplaces are a great leveller and anyone with an idea and the passion to work hard and drive their business forward can succeed. Clare is a prime example that you can start small and eBay provide all the tools that are needed to go from zero to a million pound turnover and beyond.
Naturally, with Clare on the telly box, her staff were watching online and video’d her interview on their smartphones so here it is:
