It’s almost time to shut up the warehouse and head home for the Christmas break, but eBay have a couple of updates you’ll either want to get on top of over the holiday period, or jump on as soon as you return in the New Year.
Product Identifiers
eBay announced back in November that they’ll be requiring aff_link("https://sellercentre.ebay.co.uk/using-product-identifiers","Product Identifiers","","UK"); ?> for multi-variation listings in eligible categories. The deadline is still a month away, but after the 31st of January, if you haven’t updated your listings then you won’t be able to relist them.
The requirement applies to new, revised or manually relisted listings for new or manufacturer refurbished items in the following categories: Baby; Books, Comics & Magazines; Business, Office & Industrial; Cameras & Photography; Clothes, Shoes & Accessories (shoes only); Computers/Tablets & Networking; DVDs, Films & TV; Health & Beauty; Home, Furniture & DIY; Mobile Phones & Communication; Music; Musical Instruments; Pet Supplies; Sound & Vision; Sporting Goods; Toys & Games; Vehicle Parts & Accessories; and Video Games & Consoles.
“Promote your listings” adverts
eBay recently added the Crafts, Garden & Patio, Health & Beauty and Pet Supplies categories to those eligible for the aff_link("https://sellercentre.ebay.co.uk/promote-your-listings.html","Promote Your Listings","","UK"); ?> feature.
Other eligible categories include: Baby, Cameras & Photography, Clothes, Shoes & Accessories, Computers/Tablets & Networking, Home Furniture & DIY, Jewellery & Watches, Mobile Phones & Communication, Sound & Vision, Sporting Goods, Toys & Games, Video Games & Consoles.
Promote your listings enables you to create ad campaigns to promote your best listings in prominent locations on eBay where buyers are actively shopping for related items. Where and when your ads appear is based on factors like your chosen ad rate and the relevance of your item to a buyer’s search.

I’ve had enough of putting in pointless hours of doing things that bring in no money just to satisfy eBay. Time to stop, time to put in effort into things that actually bring some return for my time and effort. I really don’t care about ebay any more.
Bah humbug and Merry Christmas.
Product identifiers ? Pah! How about some customer identifiers !!!
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all at Tamebay.
I read this post today but didn’t have the time to reply to it.
Ebay accounts for less than 5% of our business these days, we make all of our money on Amazon and we give less than 5% of our work time to it. Things have changed.
Ebay UK is unimportant news, it has become a cheap buyers dream and a sellers nightmare. I really don’t know why you guys give so much airtime to it because right now it is not even in the game.
Merry xmas Tamebay, looking forward to more online retail news for 2016 but as soon as you mention ebay it goes in the trash.
