Automation and data flow for motors aftermarket parts

Category: Data & Insights

At the ecommotorsAutomating Automotive 2024”,event held at eBay UK’s Richmond headquarters, TecCom’s Mark Rudge discussed the importance of automation and data flow between OE/OEMs, distributors and resellers.

With the huge range of motors in the UK, it’s impossible for resellers to hold every part for every car in stock, and so they routinely list on marketplaces based on stock availability at their suppliers on a drop ship model. But in the middle, a solution is needed to connect resellers with suppliers and that’s where TecCom come in.

TecCom have a range of products and services that simplify and automate business processes between parts manufacturers and wholesale traders and this includes the returns process and as well as powering ecommerce, also enables physical trade counters to efficiently order parts for their customers.

In this video, Mark Rudge discusses:

  • 04:21 Efficient returns process for aftermarket parts

The big problem we find is the ‘level of expectation’ from buyers, who see an item listed for sale on eBay and just ‘assume’ they can come and collect it, or assume delivery will be next day (or even same day!).
It’s great having this kind of technology to ensure you’re not listing out of stock or unavailable products – as we’ve been doing ourselves for several years already – but its amazing how many buyers just simply don’t pay any attention to handling times or estimated delivery dates.
